Ponnuswamy Mohan (30 December 1949 30 October 2009) was an Indian politician and a member of the state unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)). He was a member of the 13th Lok Sabha and 14th Lok Sabha, representing the Madurai constituency of Tamil Nadu as a candidate of the CPI(M). P. Mohan died on 30 October 2009 at 1830 hrs.[1]

Comrade P Mohan was an activist in the student movement before he joined the Party in 1973. He worked as the District Secretary of the Democratic Youth Federation of India in Madurai later on. He served as the Secretary of the Madurai Urban district of the Party for some time. He was a member of the Tamil Nadu State Committee of the CPI(M) for the past15 years. P. Mohan conducted various big struggles in Madurai. Notable among them was the one for improving facilities at the Madurai District Hospital during the course of which he was brutally attacked by the police and had to be hospitalized for a long time. He was elected as a Member of the Lok Sabha from Madurai for two consecutive terms in 1999 and 2004. As a MP he effectively initiate discussion concerning the people of Tamil Nadu in parliament. P Mohan will be remembered as a tireless worker, who was known for his simplicity and utmost dedication to the cause of the common people.
