The costumes were by Santo Loquasto and lighting by Ronald Bates; the New York City Ballet premiere Friday, November 26, 1976, at New York State Theater (also at Lincoln Center). Other Dances is the fourth ballet Robbins made to Chopin's music; the previous ballets were: The Concert, 1956; Dances at a Gathering, 1969; and In the Night, 1970.
