On the Milky Road (Serbian: На млијечном путу, Na mliječnom putu; Italian: Lungo la Via Lattea) is a 2016 film directed by Emir Kusturica, starring Emir Kusturica and Monica Bellucci. Based on Kusturica's segment featured in the anthology film Words with Gods. The film is a three part narrative following selected critical periods in the life of a man and his country. The difficult period of being at war, blooming days when he falls in love with a woman who is willing to sacrifice all to save him and final days as a reclusive monk looking back on his turbulent past. It was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival.[2]
