Oatley railway station is located on the Illawarra line, serving the Sydney suburb of Oatley. It is served by Sydney Trains T4 line services.

History

The original Oatley station opened on 26 December 1885 as Oatley's Grant when the Illawarra line was extended from Hurstville to Sutherland. It was renamed Oatley's Platform and finally Oatley in 1890. The station building was relocated to a new platform to the west when a deviation of the line opened on 7 July 1905. Part of the former railway reservation is now the Oatley Memorial Gardens.[1][2][3]

Oatley is notable as the end point of the first section of track to be electrified for regular passenger services, with services from Central commencing on 1 March 1926. Historically some services used to terminate at Oatley before returning north, this is no longer the case but the points remain in place.

As at May 2015, Oatley station is being upgraded with a 100 vehicle car park, and a pedestrian footbridge with lifts.[4][5][6]

Trackplan

Track layout with crossovers north of station allow trains to terminate on either platform
