Oded David "O.D" Kobo (Hebrew: קובו עודד; born August 30, 1975) is an Israeli businessman.

Early life

Oded Kobo was born in Israel,[1] the son of Eliezer "Bebo" Kobo,[2]and Ruth Kobo, one of his six children.[3]

Kobo was educated in New York and London, and studied at the London School of Economics for two years.[4][1]

Career

In 1998, Kobo was living in New York City, working as a graffiti artist, employing two assistants, and using part of his loft apartment at 11 East 17th Street as a gallery.[1]

From 2001 to 2009, Kobo was involved in establishing several China-based investment companies, KGIM, SinoSheen, and Koolanoo Group.

In 2012, Kobo founded Pheed, a mobile pay-per-view technology. Pheed was acquired 18 months after launch in March 2014, by Mobli Media Group, a company majority owned by Carlos Slim, for $40 million.[5][6][7][8]

In 2014, Kobo co-founded Shellanoo Group, a technology company specializing in mobile applications and Internet related services. Kobo's partners in Shellanoo Group include Roman Abramovich, Avicii, Tiesto, Nicki Minaj, Will.i.am, Benny Anderson, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Gee Roberson (former chairman of Geffen Records).[9][10][11][12]

Kobo is CEO of PIR Equities, an alternative asset management firm he co-founded in 2008. According to Globes, Kobo raised $980 million for it in 2008 to pursue opportunistic value-based investments.[13]

In 2016, Haaretz noted that although Kobo had been seen in the company of Bar Refaeli, Jack Ma, Esti Ginzberg, and others, "his business record is not quite so star studded".[2]

Personal life

In 2015, he married Etos "Etty" Ovadia.[2]
