Nothnegal is a Maldivian heavy metal band from Malé, formed in 2006. The band is signed to Season of Mist.[2] Nothnegal is endorsed by Jackson and LTD guitars.[3]

History

Nothnegal was formed by guitarist Hilarl after he left his previous band The Mortuary along with his cousin and former guitar partner Fufu in 2006, after a couple of lineup changes the band have had a stable lineup since they released their first record.

Nothnegal's first demo Antidote of Realism EP, was self-released as a free download on the internet in 2009 and was never released commercially. The band got producer Anssi Kippo who have worked on the albums of Children of Bodom, Norther and several others, to produce this EP and it received a lot of positive reviews from ezines and magazines all over the world and this gave the band its first international exposure. The band also shot a music video of the song "Web of Deceit".

In April 2009, American Drummer Kevin Talley (Six Feet Under, Dååth, ex-Chimaira, ex-Dying Fetus, ex-Misery Index) and Finnish keyboard player Marco Sneck (Kalmah, Poisonblack) joined Nothnegal as official members after their original drummer and keyboard player left the band to continue their studies.

Nothnegal's debut album is slated for a release in 2011 via Season of Mist and the band have done tours in Europe supporting bands like Finntroll, Samael and Rotting Christ.[4] The band have done an Asian tour covering countries like India, Sri Lanka, Dubai and Indonesia following their debut album's release.

Nothnegal have been honored with a National Youth Award in the band's home country. The Maldives President Mohamed Waheed Hassan presented the National Youth Award 2012 to Nothnegal in the category of Performing Arts.[5]
