North Florida Christian School (NFCS) is a private school located in Tallahassee, Florida, accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Florida Association of Christian Colleges, and the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation. It was founded in 1966 by Pastor Rayburn L. Blair and James H. Pound, Jr. Although the school is open today to students of all races, it was founded by white parents, in response to the federally mandated racial integration of Leon County Schools.[1] (See Segregation academies.) Mr. Pound served as principal and school superintendent until his retirement in 1988. The school has classes from K3 to 12th grade, and it serves students from several counties in north Florida and South Georgia. Randy Ray is now the school president, and Dr. Tom Phillips is the school administrator.

The school is a ministry of North Florida Baptist Church, formerly known as Temple Baptist Church. Pastor Blair founded the church in 1962 and served as pastor for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Randy Ray became pastor at that time. In 2005, the church was renamed North Florida Baptist Church.[2] In 2016-17, tuition was about $7,000.[3]

North Florida Christian School students enjoy a wide range of fine arts opportunities including instruction in instrumental and vocal music, pep band, jazz band, drama and musicals, praise and worship performance music, the visual arts, and theatre. Students can participate in local, regional, and state events. Ministry opportunities include performing in chapel programs and other ministry events. Music students compete in the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and School Fine Arts festivals and the NFCS Band participates in the Florida Bandmasters Association assessments.
