Nikhil Dutta (born 13 October 1994) is a Kuwait-born Canadian cricketer. Dutta is right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off spin. Dutta made his One Day International debut for Canada against Kenya in March 2013.[1]

He was originally included in Canada's squad for the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament in July 2015,[2] but he chose to stay with the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League. He was replaced by Hiral Patel.[3]

Caribbean Premier League

Dutta played for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 2015 Caribbean Premier League, he only got to play in three matches but he impressed everyone with his bowling, especially after he got the wicket of the well known English batsman Kevin Pietersen.

Bangladesh Premier League

Dutta was drafted into the Barisal Bulls, one of the six teams playing in the 2015 Bangladesh Premier League. Some of the well recognized players in Dutta's team are; Chris Gayle, Mohammad Sami, Brendan Taylor, Imad Wasim and Mahmudullah Riyad.

Rise To Fame

After Dutta was drafted into the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots as an emerging player, he impressed everyone in the Caribbean Premier League with his excellent off break bowling skills. He was selected for the Canada National Cricket Team but Dutta decided to play domestic T20 Leagues. Later on he was picked up by the Barisal Bulls for the 2015 Bangladesh Premier League and now Dutta is the most searched Canadian cricketer on the famous cricket website; ESPNcricinfo.

Future

Now that Dutta has made a name for himself playing in popular T20 Leagues, Dutta wishes to take part in more leagues like the Indian Premier League, Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League, Ram Slam T20 Challenge and Georgie Pie Super Smash. It would not surprise anyone if Canada National Cricket Team qualifies for an ICC World Twenty20 event and selects Dutta as its main spinner.
