Nigel Hall (born September 15, 1981) is an American funk keyboardist. He is the current vocalist of the funk jam band, Lettuce (band) and the former vocalist and keyboardist of the rock and roll jam band, The Nth Power. Nigel currently fronts his solo project, The Nigel Hall Band.

Early career

In 2012, Nigel Hall created The Nth Power - a funk R&B, soul band at 3am during the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.[1] The band also featured Nikki Glaspie, Nate Edgar, and Nick Cassarino. In 2014, Hall joined the band Lettuce and has been performing as a touring member of the group ever since.[2]

Hall came to national recognition by getting a phone call from label head and guitarist Eric Krasno (Soulive, Lettuce) who invited Hall to New York and introduced him to many of his idols including Adam Deitch, and Questlove.

Hall left The Nth Power in March 2015 citing a change in creative vision and went back to work on his solo record with Krasno.[3]

Nigel Hall Band

The Nigel Hall Band's debut record, Ladies & Gentlemen… Nigel Hall, was released on Feel Music / Round Hill Records in November 2015.[4] A commercial and critical success, Ladies & Gentlemen… allowed Hall to tour extensively for the first time as a solo act. Rounding out the band are players Derwin “Big D” Perkins, Eric Vogel, Donnie Sundal, and Jamison Ross.

Collaborations

After his departure from The Nth Power, Hall formed a solo band continued to make live appearances in the United States. During those three years, Hall was involved in numerous bands including renowned jam band The Warren Haynes Band,[5] the namesake’s Gov't Mule side project, which put out two records, Man In Motion and Live At The Moody Theatre on Stax Records.

He also won a Grammy for his work on Jon Cleary (musician)’s Grammy winning record Go Go Juice.[6] He has performed alongside Ledisi, The Soul Rebels, Roosevelt Collier, and Oteil Burbrdge as well.[7]
