Ngoma Music Award
The Ngoma Music Award is an annual Zambian music award ceremony which recognizes the nation's musical talent. The awards are sponsored by the National Arts Council of Zambia. Similar in nature to the all-Africa Kora Awards, the Ngoma Awards give awards for the best male performer, best female performer, best instrumental ensemble, best choral group, etc. The Ngoma Awards are in their 8th year and are usually held in Lusaka. The ceremony is often attended by some of Zambia's best-known musicians and politicians. Despite efforts to strengthen the annual event and its increasing significance, some people complain that the Ngoma Awards have sometimes been poorly run.
