New Deal (French: Nouvelle Donne, ND) is a progressive party founded in November 2013 by economist Pierre Larrouturou. It obtained 549,774 votes (2.90% of the vote) in the European Parliament election, 2014 but failed to have any MEP elected. The name of the party is directly inspired by Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal and his economic policy.

Political programme

New Deal is in favour of a reduction of the statutory weekly working time from 35 hours to 32 hours in order to create 2.5 million jobs. The party is also in favour of the creation of a complementary national currency, the "euro-franc", in addition to the euro and equivalent to it.^[1]
