Nebraska Book Company
Industry Used textbooks and managed services for higher education retailers
Founded 1915
Headquarters Lincoln, Nebraska, United States

Nebraska Book Company, Inc. began in 1915 with a single college store near the University of Nebraska campus, and it is still headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States.[1] Following World War II, when the supply of new textbooks could not meet the demand created by returning ex-GI students, NBC began buying books back from students at the end of the term and reselling them as used, helping to develop a used textbook industry.

NBC has been and continues to be a leader in the higher education industry, being the first to bring to market technological solutions that help its partners operate better in all areas of their business. The company is constantly striving to update and innovate to meet the ever-changing education landscape. Not only does it currently offer innovative solutions to meet the needs of thousands of independent college retailers across the nation, but the organization is also working on ground-breaking products and services that will ensure their clients' success for years to come. The company's products and services are cutting-edge and forward-thinking, such as specialized back-end systems that boost efficiency and productivity and store design that embodies everything expected in a “store of the future.” As a result, customers benefit from increased revenue, improved textbook sourcing and delivery, and better overall guest experience.

Each milestone in Nebraska Book Company’s rich history represents the innovation and passion of its people. NBC grew from a single campus bookstore in 1915 into a company serving thousands of students, parents, faculty, fans, alumni, and clients. The company has been and continues to be a leader in the higher education industry, being the first to bring to market technological solutions that help its partners operate better in all areas of their business. In addition to its advancements in technology, for decades Nebraska Book Company has been a trusting source of millions of wholesale textbook titles and has vast experience in operating and outfitting a nationwide network of college bookstores. In June 2015, NBC sold its College Stores division [2] so the company could dedicate its full resources and expertise to supporting independent college retailers. Since that time, Nebraska Book Company has been transforming and evolving into a business that is unique to the industry. No other company is providing the breadth and depth of products, services, and solutions to provide the independent college retailer with a business model that is sustainable well into the future.

Nebraska Book Company is also forging new partnerships with other big players in the industry, like RedShelf [3] and Sidewalk.[4]
