Neaera (Greek mythology)
Neaera (/nɪˈɪərə/; Greek: Νέαιρα), also Neaira (/nɪˈaɪrə/), is the name of multiple female characters in Greek mythology:
- Neaera, a nymph of Mount Sipylus in Lydia, mother of Dresaeus by Theiodamas.[1]
- Neaera, mother of Evadne by Strymon.[2]
- Neaera, a nymph of Thrinacia, mother of Lampetia and Phaethusa by Helios.[3]
- Neaera, a daughter of Pereus, mother of Auge, Cepheus, and Lycurgus by Aleus.[4][5] In another version she married Autolycus.[6]
- Neaera, a daughter of Autolycus, mother of Hippothous, eventually killed herself after hearing of the death of her son.[7]
- Neaera, a Nereid and possibly the mother of Absyrtus by Aeetes.[8]
- Neaera, one of the Niobids.[9]
- Neaera of Lemnos, a friend of Eurynome in whose guise Pheme came to warn Eurynome of her husband's infidelity.[10]
- Neaera, a lover of Xanthus (Scamander).[11]
- Neaera, possibly the mother of Triptolemus by Celeus.[12]
