Nandha Periyasamy is an Indian film director, who has worked in Tamil cinema.

Career

During his period as an assistant director, Nandha Periyasamy shared was a room mate of director N. Lingusamy and the pair often narrated their scripts to one another.[2] In 2002, he was given the opportunity by producer S. S. Chakravarthy to make a police thriller film titled Mahaa with Ajith Kumar, Sneha and Kiran Rathod in the lead roles. However, the failure of the producer's Red (2002), meant that Mahaa was shelved after a month of shoot. His first film Oru Kalluriyin Kathai (2005) was a college romance starring Arya and Sonia Agarwal and had a mega opening amongst college students and youths, with a critic noting "the story of Nandha Periyasamy is unbelievable and the narration is appreciable."[3] The film had a very good response at the box office.Singers Chinmayi and Ranjith were introduced as singers in this film by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is going to be remade in hindi directed by A.L.Vijay. The second part is planned to be made in Tamil, in which Arya and Santhanam play cameo roles.

The director then wanted to do a film that would strike an instant chord with the audience. In his second film Maathi Yosi (2010), the director dared to touch upon sensitive issues like untouchability and casteism. Featuring a predominantly new cast , his film opened to noticeable reviews with a critic noting "starting promisingly by focusing on the casteist problem, the film smoothly had done its job"[4] The film , Maathi yosi , was screened at Dubai film market festival by DUBAI FILM CONNECTION (DFC)

The director then took up an interesting plot based upon trendy lives in facebook and it aftermaths. The movie titled "Jigina " stars Vijay Vasanth, Sanyathara as lead roles and Singampuli , kumki Ashvin Raja as other prominent roles. The film released under a huge production banner Thirrupathi Brothers and gained good reviews from audience and critics.

Initially,before directing feature films , he has done his job as a second unit director for serials Mandhira Vasal in Sun-Tv and Maaya vettaiin Vijay-Tv.

During the period of his direction , he took up acting roles, notably appearing in Mayandi Kudumbathar (2009) alongside nine other directors. He also took up prominent roles in the movie Goripalayam , Yogi. He has also been throughout the script works with director N. Lingusamy right from his first mega hit film Aanandam to upcoming Sandakozhi-2. He also worked with dir. Vasantha Balan for Angaadi theru and with director Ameer for Yogi in their scripting.

He is currently working on the under production of a sequel , Mayandi Kudumbathar -2 and working on biopic film for which actor Samuthirakani playing the lead role.
