NATO Enhanced Forward Presence

During August 2016 it was announced that 650 soldiers of the British Army would be deployed on an enduring basis in Eastern Europe, mainly in Estonia with some also being deployed to Poland.^[1]

500 personnel from a battalion were to be stationed in Estonia^[1] supported by a company each from Denmark and France.^[2] The UK's contribution to Estonia will be a headquarter element, two infantry companies, and support units such as anti-tank and mortars.^[3] A further news release stated that this deployment would also include UAVs and a troop of Challenger 2 tanks.^[4]

It was also planned to station 150 personnel in Poland mainly to train local forces.^[2]
