Nagnath S. Inamdar
Nagnath S. Inamdar (Marathi: नागनाथ सं. इनामदार) (1923–2002) was a Marathi novelist whose career spanned almost five decades.
Career
He was born in a village in Satara district of Maharashtra, India. Inamdar rose from humble beginnings to establish himself as one of India's best novelists. He is also credited with earning recognition for Marathi literature in a country dominated linguistically by Hindi.[1]
He wrote sixteen historical novels. The following is a partial list of them:
- Jhep (झेप)
- Raau (राऊ)
- Jhunja (झुंज)
- Rajeshri (राजेश्री)
- Shikasta (शिकस्त)
- Shahenshah (शहेनशहा)
- Mantravegala (मंत्रावेगळा)
He also wrote his autobiography in three volumes.
He presided over Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in Ahmednagar in 1997.
Death
Inamdar died on October 16, 2002 at his residence in Pune, and was survived by his wife and a daughter.[1]
