Mumbai Nagpur Expressway (named Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg)[1] is the proposed 710 km expressway between Mumbai and Nagpur[2] The expressway will connect Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad, Ghoti with Mumbai and will be a six-laned. It is expected to be completed in two phases by 2019. In Phase I, a four lane road will be constructed and in Phase II, it will be expanded to a six-lane road with multiple service roads, tunnels, and flyovers.[3]

The total cost for this expressway is projected to be 30,000 crore (US$4.5 billion) [3] The road passing through Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nashik, Nagpur will be complete with installation of CCTV, optic fibre and educational institutions.[4]

The expressway is expected to reduce the travel time between Mumbai-Nagpur from 16 hours to 8 hours. The project is also being evolved to develop 22 districts through which it will pass which includes a drought-hit region.[5][1]
