Mudbound is an upcoming period drama directed by Dee Rees, with a script written by Virgil Williams based on the novel of the same name by Hillary Jordan. It will star Carey Mulligan, Garrett Hedlund, Jason Clarke, Jason Mitchell and Mary J. Blige.

Premise

A family who has relocated to rural Mississippi who find themselves trying to cope with numerous issues, including racism and a relative's return from World War II.

Production

Development on the film was announced on March 21, 2016, with director Dee Rees hired to direct and actors Carey Mulligan, Garrett Hedlund, Jason Clarke and Jason Mitchell cast in roles.[1] On May 25, singer Mary J. Blige was added to the cast.[2] On May 31, Jonathan Banks and Rob Morgan were cast, and filming began in New Orleans, Louisiana and will commence post production in the UK by July .[3]
