Mubah

'Mubah' (Arabic: مباح) is an Islamic Arabic term denoting an action as neither forbidden nor recommended, and so religiously neutral. This is one of the degrees of approval (ahkam) in Islamic jurisprudence.

The term is often used as a synonym for halal. However, some Ulama (Islamic clerics) draw a distinction between the two words. According to Mujam al mustalahaat, "Halaal is that for which no clear prohibition has been mentioned, whereas mubah is where a choice has been given."[1][2]
