Mu2 Scorpii2 Sco, μ2 Scorpii) is a star in the zodiac constellation of Scorpius. It has an apparent visual magnitude of +3.56,[2] which is bright enough to be seen with the naked eye. The distance to μ2 Sco is about 474 light years, as determined by parallax measurements.[1]

This is a blue-white, B-type subgiant star with a stellar classification of B2 IV.[3] It has an estimated 7 times the radius of the Sun, almost 9 times the Sun's radius,[5] and shines with 2,385 times the Sun's luminosity.[7] The outer atmosphere has an effective temperature of 23,113 K.[6] It is some 18.5[5] million years old and is spinning with a projected rotational velocity of 58 km/s.[8] μ2 Sco is a member of the Upper Centaurus-Lupus subgroup of the Scorpius–Centaurus Association.[10]

In Chinese astronomy, Mu2 Scorpii is called 神宮, Pinyin: Shéngōng, meaning Changing Room, because this star is marking itself and stand alone in Changing Room asterism, Tail mansion (see : Chinese constellation).[11] 神宮 (Shéngōng), westernized into Shing Kung, but the name Shing Kung was designated for the formation was applied to the stars of the tail (of Scorpio) by R.H. Allen and the meaning is "a Divine Temple."[12]
