Mr Trick is a radio DJ, producer and remixer from West London in the UK. He currently presents the Rhythm Incursions and Mr Trick and Wrongtom (on your radio) shows on London's Resonance 104.4FM

History

Starting out as a DJ in the Wruck collective (alongside artist Dave The Chimp amongst others), Trick was initially known as DJ Trickshot and DJ'd with Jim Backhouse under the name The Stoned Rangers. As a pair they DJ'd alongside the likes of The Psychonauts before ultimately going their own way.

Radio Shows

Turntable Radio

In 2002 Trick created the Turntable Radio show, a programme dedicated entirely to music of the turntablist artform. This aired on London's Resonance 104.4FM, where Trick has remained as a presenter to this day.

Growing disillusioned with having to focus on such a narrow genre for a weekly 90 minute show, Trick announced the termination of the Turntable Radio show, replacing it in the same timeslot with a new, wider-focus show, Rhythm Incursions, co-presented by Waxfactor. However, due to public demand, he was forced to reinstate the show as an internet-only monthly programme, but enlisted journalist and friend Laurent Fintoni to present in his place. Shortly after Laurent took over, the show switched to a podcast format that it has remained in to this day.

Rhythm Incursions

The Rhythm Incursions show replaced Turntable Radio on Resonance in 2004. With a strapline of "picking up where hip hop stops", the show aimed to cover areas of music Trick and Waxfactor felt were denied airtime elsewhere. The show still airs, and to date has featured guest presenters such as Joe Beats, Dday One, 2tall, Buddy Peace and more.

Black Friday

In 2006, Trick joined with various other Resonance FM staff members to front the Black Friday Radio Show. The focus of this was exclusively extreme metal. Whilst Trick presented under his own nom-de-guerre, various other Resonance members presented as, variously, Kev Dead, Snakelifter, Ruth and Reg Bastardizer. The show briefly moved to an afternoon drivetime slot, ultimately leading to its demise.

Mr Trick and Wrongtom (on your radio)

In late 2007, Trick partnered up with DJ and remixer Wrongtom to present a new show, covering an even-wider cross-section of music that could take in anything they fancied. To date this has included (though not exclusively); calypso, hip hop, dub, doo-wop, krautrock, math metal, folk, punk, new wave, disco and more... The show airs on London's Resonance 104.4FM, and is also podcast.
