Mouli Ganguly is an Indian television and film actress, who has worked in both Hindi and Bengali cinema.[1] She shot to fame as Shaina in Ekta Kapoor's popular hit thriller series Kaahin Kissii Roz that aired from (2001-2004) on Star Plus and other TV series Saaksshi (2004) [2] Currently, As of 2012, She has also played the role of Anusha Sarkar, a business woman, in yet another Ekta Kapoor's Indian soap opera, Kya Huaa Tera Vaada that aires on Sony TV.

Early life

Ganguly graduated in science from the University of Calcutta in her native city Kolkata and gained a Mass communication degree; she left midway when she started getting offers for modelling.[3][4]

Career

She started modelling and has been in a number of TV and print ads.[3] She has modelled for products like Pears, Rin, Ariel, Close-Up, Double Diamond, Asian Paints, Sonam Quartz, Britannia, Maggie, Bombay Dyeing.

She has also worked as an assistant director before she started acting.

In April 2001, Ganguly was cast in the lead role as Shaina in Kaahin Kissii Roz. The highly rated show garnered her a lot of positive reviews about her noteworthy character. The show went on until September 2004. She later starred in Kutumb, Resham Dankh and Kkusum.[3] In 2004, Ganguly starred as the lead actress in a popular TV serial on Sony TV called Saaksshi, in the lead role opposite Samir Soni and Amit Sadh.[5]

Her television success lead to an appearance in Rituporno Ghosh's critically acclaimed movie Raincoat (2004) alongside Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgan.[3] Thereafter she took a hiatus and made a come back with Aathvaan Vachan (2008)[6]

In 2009 she appeared on the reality dance show Nach Baliye with her boyfriend and co-star Mazhar Sayyed. She got noticed for her creative performances but could not make it to the semi-finals.

Now she is modelling for Airfone mobile phones.

Currently she played the role of the antagonist in the serial Kya Huaa Tera Vaada which airs on Sony TV. She played the role of a rich businesswomen Anushka who had a college affair 12 years prior to current time depicted and plans to restart the affair with the married male protagonist Pradeep (who also works for her company).[7]

Now, she is part of the stage comedy Pritam Pyare Bapuji and doing journey all over India.

Personal life

Mauli got married to her longtime boyfriend, Mazhar Sayyed recently, who was also her co-star in popular TV series Kaahin Kissii Roz and dance on Nach Baliye (2009).[8][9]
