The Mohammad Hassani (or Mamasanis) are a large Baloch tribe (sunni muslims) living in the districts of Chagai, Kharan, Washuk, Kalat, Awaran, Khuzdar, Quetta, Nushki, Mastung, Panjgur and Makran in Balochistan and Sindh and Panjab.They also have notable presence in Helmand (Afghanistan), Zahidan (Iran) and Iraq. According to some estimates ,their population is 54,0000 in Pakistan. Senator Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hasni of Dalbandin has been heading the tribe for many years .They speak several languages including Balochi, Brahui, and Persian. The current tribal chief of the Mohammad Hassanis in Pakistan is Senator Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hasni There are many subtribes of Mohammad Hassnis ,namely Durrakzai (largest), Kalmalizai, Harooni, Mandawzai, Eidozai, Chakarzai, Bakhalzai, Zeerkari, Nazarzai, Khiyyazai and Shahaqzai. Mohammad Hassanis take Hazrat Abbas (uncle of Prophet Mohammad) as their ancestor, hence some of them (those who live in Panjab) like to be called Abbasi.
