Modern (Polish: Nowoczesna, styled as .Nowoczesna), is a liberal political party in Poland founded in late May 2015 by the economist Ryszard Petru.
The party received 7.6% of votes in the 2015 parliamentary election,[3] which resulted in winning 28 seats in Sejm.
History
The party was founded in late May 2015 as NowoczesnaPL (ModernPL) by economist Ryszard Petru.[4] Due to some controversy over its name – there had already been a non-governmental organization called Fundacja Nowoczesna Polska (Modern Poland Foundation)[5] – in August 2015, the party's name was changed to .Modern (.Nowoczesna).[6] Around the same time, the party's new logo was presented, and Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz became its spokesperson.[7]
The party was accepted into the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) on 4 June 2016.[8]
