Mitch Glasser

Mitch Emri Glasser (born October 15, 1989) is an American professional baseball player for the Joplin Blasters in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball. He has played for the Chicago White Sox organization in Major League Baseball (MLB). A right-handed hitter, he plays second base, third base, and outfield.

Glasser was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 39th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft.^[1]

Early life

Mitch Glasser was born in Chicago and grew up actively involved in his Jewish community. Glasser's favorite baseball team during his childhood was the Chicago White Sox. After graduating high school he went to Division III Macalester College ^[2]

In 2011, Glasser led the Scots in batting average (.408) and total bases (74) as well as tying for the lead in homeruns (4). He ranked second on the team in RBI (30) and hits (49).^[3] He was awarded MIAC all-conference honors.^[4]

Professional career

Glasser was drafted by his hometown Chicago White Sox in the 39th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, and played the 2013 season with the Bristol White Sox.

After being released by the Chicago White Sox, he played for the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League for the 2014 season^[5]

In 2015 he joined the Joplin Blasters of the American Association in the teams inaugural season. As of 2016 Glasser is having his best season of his four-year professional career with a .310 average with 14 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 40 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 76 games.^[6]

Team Israel

By virtue of his Jewish heritage, Glasser played for the Israel at the 2017 World Baseball Classic qualifier.^[7] Glasser appeared in the first and second games of the qualifier as a late inning defensive replacement and did not have an at bat.^[8][9]
