The Minister of Defense is the Government of Vietnam member in charge of the Ministry of Defense. The Minister of Defense who direct the management functions of state for defense; responsible organization, construction, management and the highest commander of the Vietnam People's Army and Militia. Moreover, the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission and Member of Council for National Defense and Security. The current Vietnamese Minister of Defense is Ngo Xuan Lich
