Wireless Metropolitan Area Networking or WiMAN[5] a term originally abbreviated and reclassified by the company as Metro Wireless and is also sometimes referred to also as a delivery method for Metro Ethernet service with last mile Internet access delivered over Fixed wireless equipment. These types of networks are typically utilized in many highly populated cities around the world.[6][7] Metro Wireless providers are a type of wireless internet service provider (WISP) that is primarily focused on providing wireless local loop as a fiber optic alternative using microwave and other fixed wireless technologies. In 2013, Metro Wireless International Inc., founded the Metro Wireless Providers Alliance [8] as well as the List of Metro Wireless Providers in the United States Wikipedia page to raise awareness for these up and coming technologies.
