'"MetricStream"' is an American Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) apps company with headquarters in Palo Alto, California.[4][5] The company employs more than 1,000 people and has received awards and recognition that include being listed as a Red Herring Top 100 and being ranked 10th on Deloitte's Technology Fast 50.[6][7] The company is best known for its enterprise governance, risk management, and compliance software.[8][9]

History

MetricStream has received funding from various sources, including its original co-founders[10] and current Executive Chairman Gunjan Sinha.[11] One of its earliest funding rounds included $14.1 million from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 2006, followed up by $2.5 million in 2009 from Gold Hill Capital and Montage Capital.[12] It also held three rounds of funding in 2013, with its largest being a $48 million of a planned $70 million financing round.[13][14]

MetricStream merged with Zaplet, Inc. in March 2004.[15] As part of the merger, CEO and Chairman Gunjan Sinha became the company's Executive Chairman and Zaplet CEO Shellye Archambeau became CEO of MetricStream.[15] The company moved its headquarters from Santa Clara, California to Zaplet's offices in Palo Alto and the newly formed company kept the MetricStream name.[15] Upon completion of the merger, the company had 100 employees working at its offices in Redwood Shores, California, Halifax and Nova Scotia in Canada, and Bangalore, India.[15][16]

Platform and services

MetricStream provides its software through a main enterprise platform, with applications that are customized for individual entities for compliance with quality standards, industry regulations, risk programs and corporate policies.[17] It also has an online portal for GRC professionals to receive training and updates in the GRC field.[18] MetricStream also provides cloud, implementation, post-sales support, and validation services to support its software.[19]

MetricStream has received numerous awards and recognition for its technology innovations, GRC software and customer implementations. Awards include the GRC 20/20 Research 2015 Innovation Awards, which recognized MetricStream for its Mobile Middleware Architecture for Enterprise GRC, as well Quality Management App.[20] In 2015, MetricStream customer Bank of Tanzania and MetricStream were awarded “Best Governance, Risk, and Compliance Project in Africa” at the Asian Banker Middle East and Africa Technology Implementation Awards 2015 hosted by Asian Banker.[21] In 2013, MetricStream was awarded Operational Risk & Regulation's Best GRC Platform [22] and a 2014 GRC Technology Innovation Award from GRC 20/20.[23] Additional awards and recognition have included Forrester Groundswell award in 2009, Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 award in 2008, and Red Herring’s top 100 hottest private companies in 2006.
