Meteorological Station of Oppido Mamertina

The meteorological station in Oppido Mamertina is the meteorological station of reference for the Meteorological Service of ARPA, to the city of Oppido Mamertina in southern Italy.

Characteristics

The weather station, operated by ARPA, is located in Italy in Calabria, in the province of Reggio Calabria, 342 meters above sea level and the geographic coordinates 38°18′00″N 15°59′00″E.

Climatological data 1900–2016

Based on the average of the three centuries of reference for the World Meteorological Organization, the average temperature of the coldest month, January, stood at 13,8 °C; that of the hottest month, July is +30 °C. The annual average temperature over 21,7 °C. Average annual rainfall is scarce, equal to 455 mm, distributed on average in 59 days, with a pronounced minimum in spring and summer and autumn-winter peak very content. The relative humidity annual average recorded the value of 67.2% with a minimum of 58% in July and maximum of 75% in November. The hailstorm was stronger on February 9, 1709, it lasted one hour and twenty minutes, with 16 cm of accumulation

The climate is subtropical, with mild winters and moderately warm and rarely hot, dry summers. Snowfall is rare among the rarest of all the Mediterranean. It 'also one of the hottest cities of Europe both in terms of maximum temperature that in terms of the minimum. The temperatures in fact never drop below 11/12 °C.
