Mesogeion Avenue

Mesogeion Avenue (Greek: Λεωφόρος Μεσογείων) is a main road in Athens and its eastern suburbs. It was named after the Mesogeia Plain to which it leads. Its western end is in the Ampelokipoi district of Athens, where it intersects with Kifisias Avenue, Vasilissis Sofias Avenue and Alexandras Avenue. Its eastern end is in the westernmost part of Gerakas, where it intersects with Marathonos Avenue and Lavriou Avenue. It is part of Greek National Road 54. The total length is approximately 8 km. Mesogeion Avenue also intersects with Michalakopoulou Street, Katechaki Avenue and Perikleous Avenue.

Mesogeion Avenue passes through the municipalities (west to east) Athens, Papagou-Cholargos, Filothei-Psychiko, Chalandri, Agia Paraskevi, Glyka Nera and Gerakas.

Notable buildings along Mesogeion Avenue include the Ministry of National Defence, the Georgios Gennimatas General Hospital and the House of Radio, the seat of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ΕΡΤ) (from 1976 until 2013) and the seat of New Hellenic Radio, Internet and Television (ΝΕΡΙΤ) (from 2014) the so-called Radiomegaron (Ραδιομέγαρο).
