Megan Leavey

Megan Leavey is a former US Marine corporal who served as a Military Police K9 handler. Cpl. Leavey was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. Cpl. Leavey was paired with, Military Working Dog Rex, an explosive detection/attack dog. The pair served two deployments to Iraq together. They were first deployed lujah in 2005, and then to Ramadi in 2006, where they were both injured by an IED explosion and received the Purple Heart Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal distinguished with a "V" for combat valor. Cpl. Leavey and Rex are the real-life subject of the film Megan Leavey.[1]
