Meerjapeta

Meerjapeta, also rendered as Meer Japetais a village in the Tarlupadu mandal of the Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The village is 15 kilometres from Markapur. The Gundlakamma River passes near the village. In early days it had the name of "Bangaru Palle".

At the 2001 census, the village had 1,568 inhabitants.[1]

Facilities

It has one elementary school and one high school. The main source of income for the people in this area is agriculture. The nearest railway stations are Tarlupadu 4 km, Markapur 15 km and Cumbum 12 km.

Agriculture

The main crops raised here are tobacco, cotton, rice and other crops which need abundant rainfall.
