The Maryland–Rutgers rivalry is annual football game between the University of Maryland and Rutgers University. Between 1920 and 2009, both schools played in separate conferences. During the 2010–13 Big Ten Conference realignment, both schools joined the Big Ten Conference. Because of their geographic proximity, both schools were placed in the "East" division and play annually as the final game of the season.

Reports in July 2016 indicate that both schools are looking to add a traveling trophy for the game.[1] [2][3][4]
