Mark Robert Arcobello (born August 12, 1988) is an American professional ice hockey player currently playing with SC Bern of the National League A (NLA).

Playing career

Arcobello played four years of college hockey at Yale University with the Yale Bulldogs men's ice hockey team. Not drafted after college, Arcobello played the 2010–11 season in minor league professional hockey with two affiliates of the Edmonton Oilers—the Stockton Thunder and the Oklahoma City Barons. The Oilers signed Arcobello to a two-year entry level contract on April 1, 2011.[1]

Arcobello played his first National Hockey League (NHL) game during the 2012–13 NHL season, when he played a single game on February 5, 2013, following an injury to Oilers' captain Shawn Horcoff. On June 16, 2013, Arcobello signed a one-year contract extension with the Oilers.[2]

During the 2014–15 season, on December 29, 2014, Arcobello was traded by the Oilers to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Derek Roy.[3] Arcobello scored in his Predators debut against the Los Angeles Kings on January 3; however, after four games he was placed on waivers and claimed by the injury-depleted Pittsburgh Penguins on January 14, 2015.[4] After 10 games with the Penguins, he was again placed on waivers and claimed by the Arizona Coyotes on February 11, his fourth NHL team of the season.[5] Arcabello is only the third player in NHL history, behind Dennis O'Brien and Dave McLlwain, to play on four teams in a single season.

Arcobello was not tendered a qualifying offer to remain with the Coyotes and on July 1, 2015, he joined his fifth team in under a year upon signing a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.[6] Arcabello joined the Maple Leafs for the first few games of the 2015–16 season, but after failing to record any points, he cleared waivers and was assigned to their minor league affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. He was called up to the injury-depleted Leafs in February 2016, scoring two goals in his first game back.[7]

Upon the conclusion of the 2015-16 season, he opted to continue his career overseas, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal with SC Bern of the National League A (NLA).[8] Arcobello made his NLA debut on September 9, 2016 in the Berner derby against the SCL Tigers. He scored his first goal that same day after only 44 seconds in the first period. He then went on to add 3 assists in this game before 17,031 spectators in a packed PostFinance Arena.[9]
