Marion Hammer

Marion P. Hammer was the first female President of the National Rifle Association[1] from 1995 to 1998.[2]

As an NRA lobbyist in the state of Florida from the late 1970s through 2016,[3] Hammer was credited with pushing through the 1987 Florida law standardizing the issue of concealed-carry permits[4] and Florida's 2005 "Stand your ground" legislation.[5] According to Bloomberg News, these laws became the model for similar laws passed in a majority of US states.[6]

In 2005, Hammer was inducted into the Florida Women's Hall of Fame.[7]
