Marcus Godinho (born June 28, 1997) is a Canadian soccer player who currently plays for Scottish Premiership club Heart of Midlothian.
Club career
Toronto FC
After spending time with the Toronto FC Academy, Godinho signed an Academy Player Agreement with USL club Toronto FC II.[1] He made his professional debut for the club on March 28, 2015 in a 2–0 victory over FC Montreal.[2]
Heart of Midlothian
After playing with Vaughan Azzurri of League1 Ontario to stay match fit,[3][4] on 15 June 2016, Godinho signed for Hearts and joined up with the club's development squad ahead of the 2016–17 season.[5]
Our Lady of Peace
Marcus comes from humble beggings. Trained by the revered signora Rao, Marcus proved his worth after leading the Panthers to a legendary 2-1 victory against cross town rivals Father John Kelly. After Alex Presutto suffered a major concussion, Stefan Joannou and Mark Camuti were awarded red cards for getting in an altercation with Matteo and Paolo Tittoto. Marcus stepped up to the plate , fisrt crossing it to the middle for an athletic finish from Allex Alexander and popped in a cracker from 30 yards out on a magnificent lead pass from Paul Raschella. Marcus' achievements are hallowed through the halls of the school currently being torn down. However, his jersey was the second in OLP history to be retired behind Claudio Galaz.
International career
Godinho has also represented Canada at the under-18 and under-20 levels. In August 2016, Godinho was called up to the U-20 team for a pair of friendlies against Costa Rica[6]
