Gorkogo Square is a road junction and public space of Kryvyi Rih's central city, built in mid 50th to connect Gagarin Street with Metalurhs Ave, Mir Ave and Volhohradska Street. In this context, a circus, from the Latin word meaning "circle", is a round open space at a street junction. [1]

City planning uses the name of "City block", ninety fifth block is on Gagarin Street. Gorkogo Square is also commonly named so.

Square is close to major shopping and entertainment areas in the City. Its status as a major traffic junction has made Gorkogo Square a busy meeting place and a tourist attraction in its own right. It is particularly known as place of public discussions, street artists, for its video display and neon signs mounted on the corner building on the northern side.

Transport

The Budynok Rad station on the Kryvyi Rih Metrotram is located in hundred meters. It is one of the few stations which have no associated buildings above ground and is fully underground.

Major shops

McDonalds restaurant is popular with tourists and citizens. ATB-Market is a major retailer of located on the corner of the circus and Gagarin Street, next to the French cafe. Adidas is a major retailer of sporting goods. It moved to its present site in 2010, and they regularly offer sale items, including international football jerseys up to 90% off. Ukrposhta, Kyivstar, Raiffaizen, MTS offices are often considered to be part of the business area.

Demonstrations

The Square's status as a high-profile public space has made it the destination for numerous political demonstrations, including the Euromaidan.
