Makhdum Rashid (Urdu: مخدُوم رشِيد), (Punjabi: مخدوم رشِید) is a town of approximately 30,000 in Multan, Punjab, Pakistan.

Makhdoom Rashid is 20 km distant from Multan towards the east on Vehari Road (old Multan Dehli Road). The majority of the population is from the Makhdum Abdul Rashid family, also known as Quraishi Hashmi Asdi.

Makhdum Abdul Rashid Haqqani

The town is named after the Sufi saint Makhdum Abdul Rashid Haqqani, who founded this town in the 11th century. Haqqani was the cousin of Baha-ud-din Zakariya (Persian: بہاؤ الدین زکریا) and the daughter son of Hazrat Syed Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani but its verification is needed.[1] Haqqani was the disciple and mureed of Saint Mir Sayyed Ali Hamadani mostly called Ameer Kabeer Syed Ali Humdani. It is important that Syed Ali Humdani was a great Sufi saint of Islamic history who preached the Islam in Kashmir, Gigat, Baltistan, Ladakh and Hazara Division of KPK, Pakistan. Haqqani's mausoleum is in Makhdoom Rashid.

Haqqani's urs is held throughout the month of Haar (June), and attracts pilgrims from other areas. A well near the mausoleum is said to produce water only during the month of Haar. It is believed that its water cures physical and spiritual diseases. The origin of this belief is a story that Haqqani suffered from disease and after recovering threw the remaining medicine into the well. The mausoleum and adjacent unique five-dome Masjid, the second masjid of its type in the world, displays finest Multani art "Blue Pottery". Recently restoration work is ongoing.

AKbar Hashmi (a great poet, educationist, broadcaster) also belongs from here. Akbar Hashmi is son of great Sufi saint Makhdoom Rukan Aalam Shah. Akbar Hashmi's son (Rukan Abdullah Shah) is studying now in engineering.
