Makereti Papakura

Papakura in 1908

Makereti Papakura (18731930) was a New Zealand woman of mana, guide and ethnographer. Of Māori descent, she identified with the Te Arawa and Tuhourangi iwi. She was born in Matata, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand in 1873.[1] She attended Hukarere Native School for Girls.
