Magrahat Purba (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (earlier known as Magrahat East) is an assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is reserved for scheduled castes.

As per orders of the Delimitation Commission, No. 141 Magrahat Purba (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (SC) is composed of the following: Magrahat II community development block.[1]

Magrahat Purba (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 19 Jaynagar (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]Earlier it was part of Mathurapur (Lok Sabha constituency).[2]

1977-2006 Magrahat East

In the 2006[16]and 2001[15]state assembly elections, Bansari Mohan Kanji of CPI(M) won the 121 Magrahat East (SC) seat defeating his nearest rival Namita Saha of Trinamool Congress. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Nirmal Sinha of CPI(M) defeated Namita Saha representing Congress in 1996[14]and 1991.[13] Radhika Ranjan Pramanik of CPI(M) defeated Manoranjan Haldar of Congress in 1987,[12] Nirmal Kanti Mondal of Congress in 1982[11] and Manoranjan Haldar of Congress in 1977.[10][19]

1962-1972 Magrahat East

Manoranjan Halder of Congress won in 1972.[9]Radhika Ranjan Pramanick of CPI(M) won in 1971,[8] 1969[7]and 1967.[6]Ardhendu Sekhar Naskar of Congress won in 1962.[5]

1951-1957 Magrahat

Magrahat was a joint seat in 1957[4]and 1951.[3]In both the elections Abdul Hashem and Ardhendu Sekhar Naskar, both of Congress, won the Magrahat seat.
