Ma Yili (simplified Chinese: 马伊琍; traditional Chinese: 馬伊琍; pinyin: Mǎ Yīlì; born 29 June 1976) is a Chinese actress.[1][2]

Ma has won the Golden Phoenix Award and Huading Award, and she received Best Supporting Actress Award at the 3rd Chinese Film Festival for her role in Tracks Kong Lingxue, Best Actress Award at the 9th Changchun Film Festival for her role in Life Today, and Best Actress at the 1st Asia Television Rainbow Award for her role in Marriage Battle.

Life

Early life

Ma was born in Hongkou District, Shanghai on June 29, 1976, with her ancestral home in Rudong County, Nantong, Jiangsu. She entered Shanghai Theatre Academy in 1994, majoring in acting, where she graduated in 1998. During her university days, she made money by herself to pay for her tuition.[3]

Acting career

Ma made her film debut in Liu Haili, playing Chen Xiaojun, she took home ¥800 prize for her efforts.[3]

In 1996, Ma acted with Bao Jianfeng, Chen Long, Gao Shuguang and Zhang Yalin in the television series Love Record. The television series told about a group of college struggled for love and work.[4]

After graduating in 1998 she had a cameo appearance in Glass Is Transparent, adapted from Li Chunping's novel of the same title. That same year, She acted in Kong Yiji, but it has not yet been released.[5]

In 2000, Ma appeared as Qin Wanying in the television series Previous And Present Life, she received positive reviews.

In 2002, Ma appeared in The Eloquent Ji Xiaolan 2, a historical television series starring Zhang Guoli, Zhang Tielin and Wang Gang.

Ma was cast in My Fair Princess III (2003), based on Taiwanese novelist Chiung Yao's novel, playing the daughter of Ti Lung's character.

In 2006, Ma co-starred with Chen Jianbin, Jiang Qinqin and Lei Kesheng in Qiao's Grand Courtyard as Jiang Xueying.[6] In June 2006, Ma signed with Orange Sky Entertainment Group.[7]

In 2007, Ma starred in the romantic comedy television series Struggle, opposite Wen Zhang, Tong Dawei and Li Xiaolu.[8]

In 2008, Ma played the role of Zhao Xiaoyun in Liu Xin's film Life Today, for which she won Best Actress Award at the 9th Changchun Film Festival.[9]

Ma starred with Du Chun in the romantic comedy television series Puberty Hit Menopause (2010), she also reprised her role as He Fei'er in the sequel, Puberty Hit Menopause 2 (2013).[10] That same year, Ma starred in a television series called Marriage Battle with Tong Dawei and Yuan Li.[11]

In 2011, Ma participated in Tracks Kong Lingxue, which won Best Supporting Actress Award at the 3rd Chinese Film Festival. She also participated in the affectional film Love Is Not Blind.

In 2012, Ma filmed in Cold War, a film starring Aaron Kwok, Tony Leung Ka-fai and Charlie Young.

In 2013, Ma participated in Badges of Fury, a film starring Wen Zhang, Liu Shishi and Jet Li.

Personal life

Ma was married to a Chinese actor Wen Zhang in 2008, they have a daughter, Wen Zhujun (文竹君).
