Middle East College (MEC) is a higher education institution in the Sultanate of Oman with over 5500 students. MEC is affiliated to Coventry University,[3] UK, is located in the Knowledge Oasis Muscat.

Middle East College offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the disciplines of engineering, business, and technology. MEC has partnerships with Microsoft IT Academy (ITA),[4] Oracle Academy Initiative Program, Cisco Networking Academy Program, EC-Council Scholarship,[5] SAP, Linux Professional Institute and Information Technology Authority, Oman.

History

The Middle East College of Information Technology was founded in 2002 by Dr. Abdullah Saif Ahmed Al Sabahy,[6] and Mr. Lefeer Muhamed,[7] in association with Sultan’s Special Forces Pension Fund (SSFPF).

Campus

Teaching and learning block 1 named after Islamic mathematician, astronomer and geographer, Abū ʿAbdallāh Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmi in a buildup area of 7300 Square metres.
Teaching and learning block 2 in a buildup area of 4600 square metres named after Abu al-Walid Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Rushd, a great thinker and scientist
Learning Resources Block in a buildup area of 4200 square metres named after Arab lexicographer & philologist, Al Khalil Ibn Ahmad Al Farahidi
Facilities Centre in a buildup area of 4200 square meters named after the Arab historiographer and historian, Ibn Khaldūn.

Campus life

Student lounge and common halls provide a meeting zone for students. There is a Computing Club, Electronics Club, Design Club, Photography Club, Math Club, Net Club, Business Society, Dramatics society, and the English Speaking society. During the ‘Day out with the Dean’ students discuss academic and other issues with the Dean and senior academic staff.
