M. M. Basheer

M. M. Basheer is a Malayalam literary critic who has written more than 40 critical works on Malayalam poetry, short story and novel.[1][2] He worked as a Professor of Malayalam in the University of Calicut. In 2008, the Kerala Sahithya Academy published his work on short story titled Malayala Cherukatha Sahithya Charithram (History of Malayalam Short Story) in two volumes. He published his Ph.D. work on the poet Kumaranasan's manuscripts titled "Kumaranashante Rachanashilpam".

There are two M.M Basheers - Dr M.M Basheer - M.A, Ph.D., wellknown ctitic in Malayalam. Currently working as visiting professor , Vaikkom Mohammed Basheer Chair, University of Calicut.

Dr M.M Basheer Maulavi - He is a medical doctor professionally, scholar and also a popular religious activist and speaker.

These two Basheers are commonly confused with each other.
