Luke Scott (born May 1968) is an English film, commercial and television director, screenwriter, and second unit director, best known for working on his father Ridley Scott's directed films Exodus: Gods and Kings and The Martian as a second unit director. He made his directorial debut in 2016 with Morgan.

Career

In 2012, Scott directed a science fiction short film Loom, starring Giovanni Ribisi and Jellybean Howie. His father Ridley Scott executive produced the film.[1]

In 2014, Scott worked on his father's directed biblical epic film Exodus: Gods and Kings as a second unit director, which starred Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton.[2][3] The film was released on 12 December 2014 by 20th Century Fox, grossing $268 million with a budget of $140 million.[4]

Scott made his feature film directorial debut on the science fiction thriller Morgan,[5] for which he also rewrote the script, by Seth W. Owen. His father Ridley produced the film.[2] Morgan starred Kate Mara, and was released by 20th Century Fox in September 2016.[2]

Luke worked as 2nd Unit Director on The Martian (2015), also starring Mara and directed by his father Ridley.

Personal life

Scott is the son of director-producer Ridley Scott and Felicity Heywood, and brother of Jake Scott and half-brother of Jordan Scott, both filmmakers.[6]
