Lubbock Memorial Civic Center

The Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, a convention center located in Lubbock, Texas, was built in 1977 and dedicated to the memory of local residents who died in a 1970 tornado that struck the site of the center. In front of the center is a statue honoring Buddy Holly, who had died in 1959.

Inside the convention center, which was recently refurbished at a cost of $2 million, are the following facilities:

The annual National Cowboy Symposium and Celebration, co-sponsored by the American Cowboy Culture Association, is hosted annually at the Lubbock center from Thursday through Sunday after Labor Day.[1]
