"Love Interruption" is the first single from Jack White's debut solo album, Blunderbuss.

Reception

The song has received favorable reviews from critics. Jon Dolan of Rolling Stone gave the song a rating of 3 1/2 out of 5 stars, describing the song as a "loopy little soul sketch", and stating the song's "organ spritz and puppy-eyed Casio bassoon evoke "Son of a Preacher Man." Dolan also acclaimed Ruby Amanfu's backing vocals, stating "Ruby Amanfu’s harried backing warble fits a song that adds an awkwardly personal wrinkle to the White Stripes errant primitivism."[1]

Jem Aswad of Billboard described the song as "an unusual but tantalizing lead track" and also stated, "Like the recent material from his other bands - and its title -- "Love Interruption" leaves you lusting for more."[2]

NME had a mixed review, stating "Musically, there's no trademark JW riffing. The song is rather a drumless, minimalist affair based on the chord progression of The Beta Band's 'Dry The Rain' (inadvertently, I'm sure, although the idea of Jack blazing up a spliff to 'The Three EPs' is an awesome), doodling electric piano and an unnamed female vocal echo (or a treated Jack vocal, maybe). The intensity is in the lyrics and its powerful, repetitive chorus."[3]

The song was covered by the band First Aid Kit when they appeared on Triple J's radio program in 2014.[4] Jack White had previously produced a track with the band for his record label Third Man Records.[5]
