The Long Island Nets are an American professional basketball team of the NBA Development League and an affiliate of the National Basketball Association (NBA)'s Brooklyn Nets. Based in Nassau County, the Long Island Nets will play their home games during the 2016–17 season at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and then at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York once renovations are complete for the 2017–18 season. The Nets became the twelfth D-League team to be owned by an NBA team.[3]

On March 24, 2016, the Brooklyn Nets hired Alton Byrd as the Vice President of Business Operations.[1]

On April 15, 2016, Ronald Nored was hired as team's head coach[4] and on August 23, 2016, Ryan Gomes and Pat Rafferty were announced as assistant coaches.[5]

On November 12, 2016, the Nets won their first game ever after defeating the Canton Charge 120–118.[6]
