Little Princesses
Little Princess Trust is a charity in the United Kingdom which supplies and funds high quality wigs made of real hair to children who have hair loss as a result of cancer treatment or other illnesses.
The charity was originally set up in memory of five-year-old Hannah Tarplee who died as a result of cancer in June 2005, by her parents Simon and Wendy Tarplee and her headmaster Tim Lowe. Hairdressers Peter and Tracey Prosser also became involved in advising the charity at an early stage. The charity now has an office at 79 East St, Hereford, HR1 2LU and supports children throughout the UK and Ireland. As of 2016, over 4,500 free wigs have been given away. The Little Princess Trust aims to provide the best wigs available, as close as possible to the child's original hair, entirely free of charge.
This charity is similar to the United States-based Wigs for Kids.
Hair loss is caused by the strong chemotherapy drugs which are used to treat most childhood cancers. The charity is in the process of identifying research projects to fund which will focus on childhood cancer and on finding less toxic treatments.
The Little Princess Trust is a registered charity (1113172) and welcomes donations of money and of hair.
