This is a list of high-profile crime bosses who have been convicted in the 2000's：

 Japan — Yakuza boss, the head of the Yamaguchi-gumi, the largest yakuza syndicate, convicted of illegal gun possession in 2005 and sentenced to about 6 years.[4]
 Italy — Boss of the Corleonesi Sicilian mafia syndicate, convicted of murder in 2006.[5]

 China — The "godmother" of a Chongqing organized crime group, sentenced to 18 years in 2009 for running underground casinos and bribing government officials.[25]
 Japan — Yakuza boss, the president of the Kodo-kai[26] and the de facto leader of the Yamaguchi-gumi, the largest yakuza syndicate, arrested and charged with extortion in 2010.[27]

 Russia — Moscow-based Georgian crime lord, sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in 2010 for his role in the kidnapping of a businessman[28]
 Japan — Yakuza boss, the head of the Takumi-gumi and the number-three leader of the Yamaguchi-gumi, the largest yakuza syndicate,[29] arrested in 2010 on suspicion of compensating the relatives of a hitman who had been jailed for murdering a senior member of a rival yakuza syndicate, and sentenced to 10 months in 2011.[30]
 United States — Underboss of the Colombo crime family, sentenced to 8 years in 2011.[31]
 Italy — Boss of the Casalesi Camorra clan, arrested in 2009 for murder,[32] and sentenced to life in prison in 2011.[33]
 United States — Leading member of the Genovese crime family, convicted and sentenced to 10 years in 2011 for murder plot.[34]
 United States — Leading member of the Irish mob in South Boston, Massachusetts, convicted of murder in 2013.
