List of cameras with onboard video compression

This article should contain a list of cameras, that contain some ASIC to do video compression in real-time and deliver a stream of compressed video.

Transmitting a video stream across a network usually consumes comparably high amounts of bandwidth, especially when the video is recorded at a high resolution, such as 720p or 1080p. Webcam-based conversations however depend on small time delays between camera and receiver. Video streams are therefore usually compressed before transmission, preferably using efficient video codecs, like H.264. Video encoding on the other hand consumes high amounts of computing power, such that it is advantageous to make use of a dedicated hardware encoder for stream encoding.
